Welcome to the ‘Purple Panda Nursery’
Why Purple Panda Nursery
The Nursery is located in a large, three-storey Victorian property, just a short walk from Norbury train station, which has frequent trains into London Bridge, London Victoria and Croydon. We encourage parents to attend the Nursery by walking or by using public transport, whenever possible.
Our highly experienced and qualified staff offer a friendly and welcoming environment for parents and children. All children benefit from an exceptionally high standard of childcare and education from us. We implement fully the Early Years Foundation Stage 2012.
Aims and Objectives
Our staff strive to provide children with happy, fun, secure, safe and stimulating environments in which to play, learn and develop. We encourage children to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. We promote independence and a caring and sympathetic attitude to life in general.
The nursery has a 100-foot garden and playground. The flooring is soft flooring to ensure children’s safety and there is a Dutch House, race track, sand pit, bark pit, water trays, small planting areas, climbing frames, balancing beams, slides, rocking horses, basketball nets, football nets, child seating areas, tables and many outdoor toys. We use the playground and garden, whenever possible, throughout the year. Children use the playground and garden in small groups on staggered rotas so they can get the most benefit out of the playground and its facilities. We believe that children benefit from fresh air and outdoor play and our outdoor areas have, therefore, been set up to be an extended outdoor classroom (children frequently undertake activiites under the gazebo).
The Nursery has a fully equipped kitchen, staff room and office accommodation, and it benefits from an impressive 100-foot highly secure playground and garden, monitored by CCTV and alarms. The garden was designed for children to enjoy and play.
There are multiple planters in which we grow vegetables, fruit and flowers; there is a pirate ship and lots of climbing equipment; we have two large sand-pits and we have a separate area for our rabbits – Cadbury, Marble and Mocha. We have a dedicated outdoor area for the babies, part of which is covered by a large gazebo to protect the babies from the sun.
No potential or actual user of the Nursery, whether child, adult or member of staff, will receive less favourable treatment by our Nursery or its staff on the grounds of national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, age or marital status.
We will ensure that children, irrespective of ethnicity, culture or religion, home language, family background, learning difficulties or disabilities, gender or ability, shall have the opportunity to experience a challenging and enjoyable programme of learning and development. We will promote multi-cultural education through toys and equipment and adult’s active awareness of opportunities.
Purple Panda Nursery fosters a very strong partnership with parents, and we actively encourage parent participation in everything we do, through regular parent meetings and in more informal discussions with our nursery teachers and managers. We are a relaxed and welcoming nursery
we always welcome parent feedback and suggestions on how we can improve. We have very good relationships with our parents.Parents are also welcome to join us on days out. Parents will, of course, be invited to attend presentations and performances by the children, prize giving and children’s graduation, as well as the many cultural events that we celebrate.
Confidentiality and Security of Data
We have very strict confidentiality policies. We will not discuss you or your children to anyone outside of the Nursery. We will also ensure that your personal data is secure. Paper records are locked in secure cabinets in the office and are accessible by the manager and deputy managers only.
Data on our computer system is also protected by anti-virus, firewall and email security programmes. Again, this information is accessible by the manager and deputy managers only. Information is disclosed to other members of staff on a need to know basis only.
Our Rooms & Classes
We take children between the ages of seven months and five years. Purple Panda is divided into five separate rooms for children of different age groups and there is an additional building – The Sky House – which accommodates our Toddlers. We have two separate baby rooms.
Each of our Nursery rooms has been designed to maximise learning opportunities for children. The high ceilings and large windows in our building create bright, spacious environments for play and learning. All of our rooms are air-conditioned.
Little People Room
After School Club
Children approaching the start of school are provided with a solid foundation in school subjects to prepare them for school life and full-time education. We provide fun and stimulating lessons in reading and writing, science, maths, languages and art. This gives our children a head start when they attend school for the first time.

Purple Panda Nursery has created relaxing, safe, and stimulating environments in which your child can play, discover and develop all of the skills needed to become a confident, positive and well-rounded individual. We want your child to have lots of fun each day, at the same time as learning and developing new skills.
We encourage children to progress those activities and subjects that they are most attracted to, as well as those that they are not attracted to. We also offer them the opportunity to grow at their own pace. Our highly-trained team monitor the children carefully and plan suitable activities to stimulate learning and development.
We also offer a great selection of extra classes for your children: they have cookery lessons, French lessons, football and team-building lessons with Kickstars, and dance, movement and music lessons with Lucy Sparkles and Friends. The Pre-schoolers and Toddlers are currently having Djembe drumming lessons with Mango Tree
